Lot 184: UK 1889 Victoria Jubilee Head Silver Crown

A UK silver crown, featuring the Jubilee Head portrait of Queen Victoria. The obverse depicts the Queen facing left, wearing a small crown and veil, surrounded by the struck legend VICTORIA D: G: BRITT: REG: F: D:. The reverse features the classic motif of Saint George on horseback slaying the dragon, with the date 1889 struck in the exergue. The coin is struck in sterling silver and features a reeded edge. The strike is consistent with the Royal Mint issues of the period. No additional mint marks are visible.
