A 2011 UK 50 pence coin issued as part of the London 2012 Sports Collection. The cupro-nickel coin is of heptagonal form. The reverse features a design by Emma Kelly depicting two figures engaged in a taekwondo match. Centred above the figures is the official London 2012 logo, and the legend 50 PENCE is struck at the base. The obverse features the fourth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley, surrounded by the legend ELIZABETH II D G REG F D 2011. The coin is presented in its original Royal Mint colourful card packaging. The front of the card features a stylised graphic of two martial artists and is printed with the text LONDON 2012 SPORTS COLLECTION and TAEKWONDO in pink lettering. The London 2012 logo is printed in the lower right corner. The reverse of the card provides information about the sport and the designer.
Condition report:
The coin appears to be in brilliant uncirculated condition with bright lustre and no visible contact marks or circulation wear on the reverse. The original card packaging remains flat with sharp corners and vibrant colours, showing only minor signs of handling to the edges. The coin is securely held within its integral blister pack.
