A UK 1953 Elizabeth II coronation specimen coin set, presented in its original maroon leatherette case. The set consists of ten coins representing the full circulating denominations of the period plus a commemorative crown. The central commemorative crown features four quartered shields of the United Kingdom arranged in a cross around a central crown, with floral emblems in the angles and the date 1953. The other nine coins comprise a half crown, two shillings, two different one shilling designs (English and Scottish crests), a sixpence, a twelve-sided brass threepence, a penny, a halfpenny, and a farthing. The obverses feature the uncrowned portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The copper and bronze coins (penny, halfpenny, and farthing) exhibit pronounced iridescent toning. The interior of the case is lined with red velvet with shaped recesses for each coin. The lid is embossed in gold with the Royal Cypher EIIR beneath a crown and the legend CROWNED 2ND JUNE 1953.
