Lot 122: UK 1978 Royal Mint Proof Coin Set

A UK 1978 proof coin set, presented in its original display packaging. The set is housed in a clear plastic protective case within a textured brown card presentation folder. The folder is printed with the silver-coloured legend COINAGE OF THE UNITED KINGDOM + NORTHERN IRELAND 1978. This decimal coinage set comprises a heptagonal 50 pence coin featuring the Britannia reverse, a 10 new pence coin with a crowned lion, a 5 new pence coin with a crowned thistle, a 2 new pence coin with the Prince of Wales’s feathers, a 1 new penny with a crowned portcullis, and a half new penny featuring a crown. A rectangular bronze-coloured plaque is included to the left, bearing the Royal Mint crest and the words ROYAL MINT. The obverse of each coin depicts the Arnold Machin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
