Lot 554: A Group of Royal Army Ordnance Corps Uniform Accoutrements
Not sold
This lot comprises a collection of uniform components associated with the Royal Army Ordnance Corps. Included are two stable belts: one multi-coloured web belt featuring navy blue and red horizontal stripes, fitted with an interlocking circular white metal and yellow metal buckle. The outer ring is embossed ROYAL ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS, with the central disc featuring the corps crest. The second belt is a plain white web belt with a rectangular white metal buckle, mounted with a yellow and white metal badge depicting a shield with three cannons and three cannonballs, surmounted by a crown. Also included is a dark navy blue wool field service cap with red piping and a red front section, fastened with two small yellow metal buttons. The set is completed by a pair of tall, brown stiffened leather leggings of cylindrical form, featuring adjustable leather straps and metal buckles at the base. The interior of the leggings shows some dark marks, but no legible maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on these items.
Condition report:
The web material of the stable belts shows light fraying at the edges and surface dust (photo 1). The metal buckles exhibit minor surface scratches and localized tarnishing (photo 2). The wool fabric of the field service cap shows general wear and lint accumulation, and the red felt section is slightly dulled (photo 4). The leather leggings exhibit significant surface scuffing, creasing, and variations in colour (photo 5). The leather straps appear dry but functional.
