This lot comprises a 1990 United Kingdom decimal coin collection, presented in a blue and yellow folding card folder with historical text and a printed white lace-effect border. The set contains eight decimal coins: a 1 pound coin, a 50 pence piece, a 20 pence piece, a 10 pence piece, a 5 pence piece, a 2 pence piece, a 1 penny piece, and a half penny piece. The obverse of each coin features the third portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Raphael Maklouf. The reverses feature standard decimal designs including the Royal Arms, Britannia, a Tudor rose, a crowned lion, a crowned thistle, a portcullis, and the Prince of Wales’s feathers. The front cover of the folder is printed with the legend 1990 UNITED KINGDOM BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED COIN COLLECTION and ROYAL MINT in blue and red lettering, alongside a Union Jack flag graphic. The reverse of the interior card features historical information regarding the history of British coinage and a printed illustration of a Tudor monarch. The coins are housed within clear plastic apertures.
Condition report:
The coins exhibit full mint luster and remain in uncirculated condition. The reverse of the 10 pence and 5 pence coins show significant dark toning and environmental tarnish across the fields. The copper-toned denominations show light surface dulling. The card packaging shows minor shelf wear, with light creasing to the corners and edges. The clear plastic film covering the coins shows light surface scratches and fine scuff marks. The coins are supplied in their original Royal Mint presentation folder.
