Lot 156: Two Framed Lord Of The Rings Original 35mm Filmcell Presentations
This lot comprises two commemorative film cell presentations featuring imagery from the New Line Cinema production The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Each item is housed in a black composite frame with a grey mount and glazing. The first presentation features colour photographs of the characters Aragorn and Legolas flanking two individual 35mm film cells. A central printed label reads THE LORD OF THE RINGS ARAGORN / LEGOLAS ORIGINAL 35MM FILMCEL PRESENTATION LIMITED EDITION 130 : 1000. The second presentation features a theatrical poster image and a portrait of Frodo Baggins with the text ONE RING TO RULE THEM ALL. This display contains two 35mm film cells and a label reading THE LORD OF THE RINGS THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING ORIGINAL 35MM FILMCEL PRESENTATION LIMITED EDITION 65 : 1000. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the reverse of the items.
Condition report:
The presentations show signs of handling and display. The glazing on the Aragorn and Legolas frame exhibits significant surface scuffing and multiple scratches across the centre and right side (photo 1). The Frodo Baggins frame shows light surface scratches and dust accumulation to the glazing and frame edges (photo 4). The mounts and photographic inserts appear to be in good order without visible fading. The film cells are present but appear dark; specific frames are not easily distinguished without backlighting. Both items are supplied in their existing black frames.
