Lot 146: A Stuart Crystal Miniature Rose Bowl and a Footed Pitcher
Sold for: £1
This lot comprises two decorative objects: a miniature crystal rose bowl and a small footed pitcher. The lead crystal rose bowl features a diamond-cut body and a star-cut base, fitted with a removable metal mesh grille. The bowl bears a green oval adhesive label to the rim reading STUART ENGLAND and is accompanied by its original card packaging printed with A MINIATURE BY STUART CRYSTAL and floral motifs. The single-handled pitcher is constructed from ceramic with a dark matte finish featuring a gold-coloured sponge-effect decoration. The rim, handle, and foot are accented with solid gilding. A circular mark is applied to the base in red, blue, and white; the mark consists of a red background with a stylised blue and white symbol that is not legible as a name.
Condition report:
The crystal bowl shows no visible chips, cracks, or clouding to the glass. The metal grille exhibits surface tarnishing consistent with age. The original box is intact with some minor surface wear and toning. The pitcher shows visible wear to the gilding on the handle and rim (photo 1). The underside of the pitcher displays shelf wear and some discolouration to the foot ring (photo 2).
