Lot 31: An Assortment of Glazed Ceramic Pastoral Figural Ornaments and Saucer
An assortment of glazed ceramic ornaments depicting various pastoral and rural scenes. The group features two female figures in 18th-century style dress, one in a purple bodice and the other in pink, both carrying baskets filled with polychrome fruit. A male figure is depicted wearing a straw hat with a blue brim, positioned alongside a white avian figure. The collection also includes a larger ceramic model of a horse in a dark brown glaze, fitted with a brown and tan harness featuring metallic-coloured studs and buckles. A porcelain saucer is included, decorated with a marbled green, white, and grey glaze surrounding a central white well. The figurines are characterized by high-gloss glazes and hand-painted details, including ruffled cuffs and floral motifs. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the exposed surfaces of the items.
Condition report:
The items show evidence of improper storage, being loosely packed in a cardboard box without protective wrapping. The horse figure has a detached component near the harness area. General surface dust and grime are present across all pieces. Due to the items being stored in contact with one another, there is a high probability of small chips and losses to delicate extremities such as fingers, dress ruffles, and animal features. The items are supplied without original packaging.
