Lot 3: A Traditional Metal Tea Kettle with Turned Wood Handle
A traditional metal tea kettle featuring a bulbous body with a horizontal midsection seam and a separate curved spout. The domed lid is fitted with a turned wood finial and a single circular steam vent. The kettle is equipped with a fixed overhead handle comprising two cast supports secured to the body with rivets, joined by a central turned wood grip. The exterior surface of the body and lid displays a polished finish. A small rectangular adhesive label reading 2501 is applied to the front of the body. No maker’s marks, signatures, or embossed labels are visible on the exterior surfaces of the item.
Condition report:
The kettle exhibits signs of domestic use and environmental exposure. The body displays several dark oxidation spots and a cluster of pitting on the lower right front. A shallow indentation is visible on the lower left base area. The turned wood handle shows significant wear to the black finish, revealing the natural wood grain beneath. The brass-toned handle supports show surface tarnish. The tip of the spout displays minor unevenness and wear.
