Lot 222: Isle of Man Silver One Pound Coin in Pobjoy Mint Case
An Isle of Man silver one pound coin, presented within a blue velvet-lined rectangular case. The reverse of the coin features the Triskelion in armour with spurs, positioned centrally over an outline map of the island and flanked by three stylised fleurs-de-lis. The struck legend around the perimeter reads ISLE OF MAN and ONE POUND. The obverse of the coin is not visible. The interior of the lid features a rectangular gold-toned plaque printed with a stylized castle tower logo and the text: POBJOY MINT LTD SUTTON SURREY ENGLAND. The coin is seated in a circular recess within the navy blue velvet lining. No year of strike, weight, or diameter markings are legible on the coin or packaging.
Condition report:
The coin shows signs of environmental exposure and handling. Significant dark toning and tarnish are visible across the fields of the reverse, particularly around the legend and within the recessed areas of the design. Several small contact marks and fine surface scratches are present across the island outline and the fields. The blue velvet presentation case shows light surface wear to the exterior and interior lining. No protective capsule is present.
