Lot 22: A Collection of UK 1967-1969 Commemorative Postage Stamps, Harrison Printings
This lot comprises an assortment of ten loose British commemorative postage stamps issued between 1967 and 1969. The group includes examples from the 1967 and 1968 British Paintings series, the 1967 British Discoveries issue, the 1968 Christmas issue, and the 1969 Investiture of the Prince of Wales issue. Each stamp features a gold-foiled silhouette of Queen Elizabeth II and is printed by photogravure. The denominations are in pre-decimal currency, including 3D, 4D, 9D, 1/-, and 1/6 values. Legible inscriptions on the stamps include HARRISON, ASC. SCH. SEVILLE, LOWRY, PIPER 1940, LAWRENCE, ARTIST UNKNOWN C.1575, LAWRENCE 1795, MURILLO, STUBBS, PENICILLIN, and TYWYSOG CYMRU 1969 PRINCE OF WALES. The stamps depict various subjects including fine art reproductions, scientific discoveries, and royal portraiture. All examples are perforated and appear in an unused state with original gum.
Condition report:
The stamps are in mint never hinged condition. The perforations appear intact across all examples, and the printed surfaces retain original colour and gold-foil details with no visible scuffing or fading. There are no signs of postal cancellations, creases, thins, or foxing. The centering varies from good to very good across the collection. The stamps are supplied loose without hinges or mounts.
