Lot 135: A Set of Lindrick Pottery Bone China Helen Allingham Plates
This lot comprises a set of circular bone china cabinet plates, each featuring a transfer-printed colour reproduction of a watercolour painting by the Victorian artist Helen Allingham. The scenes depict idyllic rural English country cottages with thatched or timber-framed architecture, set within gardens and featuring figures in period dress. Each plate is finished with a gilded rim. The reverse of one plate bears several printed black marks including a small graphic of a cottage within a circle. Legible text reads: COTTAGE AT SHERE, SURREY, PAINTED BY: HELEN ALLINGHAM PRIVATE COLLECTION/ BRIDGEMAN ART LIBRARY, and LINDRICK POTTERY BONE LP CHINA MADE IN ENGLAND. Other plates in the set feature similar scenes of historical English dwellings.
Condition report:
The plates are in good overall condition. There are signs of minor shelf wear to the unglazed foot rims on the reverse of each plate. The transfer-printed decorations remain vibrant with no significant losses visible. The gilded rims show light surface wear and minor rubbing. No chips, cracks, or visible repairs were noted across the set.
