Lot 70: A Collection of English Blue and White Transfer-Decorated Earthenware Tableware
An English collection of blue and white transfer-decorated earthenware tableware featuring traditional patterns. The assembly includes items decorated with the Blue Willow pattern, such as dinner plates, side plates, a serving bowl, and a gravy boat. A square serving dish is decorated with a romanticised abbey landscape scene. Other pieces include a small side plate with a gilded rim and a chinoiserie scene, and a small creamer with a floral and lattice design. The square dish features a blue printed mark on the reverse comprising a foliate cartouche containing the text ABBEY 1790, with SHREDDED WHEAT DISH printed above and GEO. JONES & SONS printed below. No other maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the items.
Condition report:
Minor wear to the gilded rim of the small side plate (photo 2). No visible chips or cracks are present on the remaining items in the provided photographs.
