Lot 48: Eric Mason 'Household Cavalry', A Mid-20th Century Framed Print
A Mid-20th Century print, ‘Household Cavalry’, by Eric Mason. The work depicts a ceremonial procession of mounted Household Cavalrymen in front of the Victoria Memorial and Buckingham Palace in London. The piece is executed in a graphic, modernist style using horizontal and vertical bands of colour and a textured finish. The print is housed in a multi-stepped frame featuring an off-white finish and a black inner slip. An adhesive white paper label is attached to the reverse, printed in blue with MESSRS WARD BROS. LTD.., WATERDALE, DONCASTER, YORKS. above the work details HOUSEHOLD CAVALRY, BY MASON., 21 1/2 X 47 1/2, Order No. 13842, and 311/69. A stylised JR logo within a square border is also present on the label. No artist signature is visible on the front of the work.

Condition report:
The print and frame show signs of age-related wear. Small losses and scuffs to the off-white finish are visible on the frame edges and corners (photo 1). The print surface exhibits light age-toning. The backing board shows moisture staining and discolouration, and the retailer label is yellowed (photo 3).
