Lot 35: A Staffordshire Fine China Teapot Hand-Painted with Apples and Grapes
A Staffordshire fine china teapot of bulbous form, featuring a fixed overhead swing handle, a curved spout, and a fitted lid with a spherical finial. The body and lid are decorated with a hand-painted fruit still life, depicting red and yellow apples and purple grapes against a textured, mottled background. The handle, spout, and lid components are finished with gilded highlights. The base bears a green printed circular mark containing the text BARON BEST CHINA STAFFS LTD QUALITY GOLD FINE HAND PAINTED around a central device of two crossed brushes and a crown. Additional green text outside the mark reads COLLECTORS PIECE CHINA. A separate black printed inscription reads APPLES & GRAPES BY DOUG HAGUE.
Condition report:
The teapot is in excellent condition with no visible faults. There are no chips, cracks, or crazing to the ceramic body or the lid. The gilded decoration on the handle and spout is bright and shows no signs of surface wear or thinning.
