Lot 336: An Agfa German 35mm Camera with Carrying Case
An Agfa German 35mm camera, of rectangular form featuring a metal body with a black pebbled leatherette covering. The camera is equipped with an AGFA COLOR-AGNAR 1:2.8/45 lens set within a PRONTOR 125 shutter housing. The top plate is fitted with a manual film advance lever and a shutter release button, while the base plate contains a tripod mount and a sliding release catch. Included is a brown leatherette ever-ready carrying case with a leather shoulder strap and metal fittings. A diamond-shaped logo containing the letters AGFA is embossed on the front plate and on the face of the case. The lens bezel is marked COLOR-AGNAR 1:2.8/45 AGFA and the shutter housing is marked PRONTOR 125 with the incised number 53047. The base plate is stamped MADE IN GERMANY.
Condition report:
The camera shows evidence of age and use. Surface dust is present in the crevices of the body and lens assembly (photo 1). The metal plates show light surface scratches and minor oxidation pitting (photo 2). The leatherette covering is intact. The front lens element is free of deep scratches but retains surface dust (photo 1); internal clarity has not been assessed. The shutter mechanism is untested. The carrying case is heavily worn, with the leather shoulder strap exhibiting significant creasing, surface cracking, and dry rot (photo 3). The interior lining is stained.
