Lot 32: A Pair of Hand-Painted Lidded Baluster Jars Signed A. Mellor
This lot comprises a pair of hand-painted jars and matching lids, each of baluster form with a flared neck and circular foot. Each jar is decorated with a continuous still-life scene featuring clusters of blackberries, apples, and plums set against a mottled ochre and tan ground. The domed lids are each surmounted by a metal spherical finial with a yellow finish, matching the circular bands at the rims of the lids and jars. The lower body of each jar bears the painted signature A. MELLOR. No manufacturer marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the base of the jars.

Condition report:
The jars show signs of light surface wear. There is minor rubbing and light loss to the yellow finish on the finials and rims (photo 1). No visible chips, cracks, or structural repairs are present on the bodies or lids. The hand-painted decoration is in good condition with no significant losses across either piece.
