Lot 15: An English 22ct Gold Fine Bone China Courting Couple Tea and Dessert Set

This lot comprises a sixteen-piece tea and dessert service manufactured from English fine bone china. The set consists of six dessert plates, five teacups, and five saucers. Each piece is designed with a scalloped edge and a gilded rim, decorated with a pale pink border featuring printed 22ct gold filigree, scrollwork, and shell motifs. The central wells of the plates and saucers, and the interior bases of the cups, are decorated with transfer-printed romantic scenes of an 18th-century couple in a pastoral garden landscape. The teacups are fitted with heavily gilded scrolled handles. The base of each piece bears a printed gilt backstamp featuring a crown device above the script name Ashley, followed by the text FINE BONE CHINA, MADE IN ENGLAND, and 22 KT. GOLD. A small letter L is printed to the left of the manufacturer’s name.
