Lot 138: A Pair of 9 Carat Gold Ear Studs with Purple Stones
This lot comprises a pair of ear studs, each featuring a pear-cut faceted purple stone. Each stone is secured within a yellow 9 carat gold six-prong basket setting, designed to elevate the stone and allow light to enter from the sides. The earrings are designed for pierced ears and are fitted with tapered posts and matching butterfly scroll backings. Punches are present on the earring posts and the scroll backings. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item. The earrings are presented in a hinged rectangular box with a black textured exterior and a blue velvet-lined interior.
Condition report:
The earrings show signs of light wear consistent with use. Fine surface scratches and minor tarnishing are visible on the metal settings and backings (photo 2). The stones show no visible chips, cracks, or surface abrasions and appear clear (photo 1). The posts remain straight and the butterfly backings function as intended. The presentation box is in good condition with no significant signs of wear.
