Lot 133: A 1900s Vintage Jolly Mechanical Money Bank

A metal mechanical money bank, depicting a male figure wearing a red shirt and a black bow tie. The right arm is hinged at the shoulder, designed to move towards the open mouth of the figure when the rear lever is depressed. The face is finished with red lips and bared white teeth. The torso is assembled from multiple sections secured by screws at the ears and the base. The base plate is secured by a single Phillips-head screw and features a grid of circular perforations. An embossed legend on the reverse of the torso reads JOLLY ~~~~ BANK PAT MAR 14 82. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
