Lot 106: A USA Zippo Statue of Liberty Metal Lighter and Case
A Zippo windproof lighter, of rectangular form with a hinged lid. The metal case features a polished finish and is decorated with a centrally positioned embossed circular emblem. This emblem depicts the Statue of Liberty against a backdrop of stars and stripes, bordered by the embossed legends STATUE OF LIBERTY and NEW YORK, NY U. S. A. The internal metal insert includes a windproof chimney with circular perforations, a flint wheel, and a wick. The item is contained within a black textured plastic flip-top display case. The top of the case features a gold-tone printed logo comprising the word ZIPPO above U.S.A. LIGHTER and a registered trademark symbol. No further maker’s marks or signatures are visible on the item.
Condition report:
The lighter shows signs of handling and environmental exposure. The exterior metal case exhibits moderate surface scratching and scuffing throughout (photo 2). There is visible discolouration and oxidation on the internal surfaces of the hinged lid (photo 1). The wick shows charring from previous ignition. The plastic display case displays light surface dust and minor wear to the outer edges (photo 3). Supplied with the original plastic flip-top display case.
