Lot 45: UK 1915-1967 Great Britain Halfpenny Collection in Folder
This lot comprises a collection of UK halfpenny coins dating from 1915 to 1967, presented in a red card folding album. The album cover features the printed text COIN COLLECTOR’S FOLDER, COLLECTION NO. 2, GREAT BRITAIN HALFPENNIES 1915 TO 1967. The internal pages are divided into sections with printed headings: GEORGE V 1910-1936, GEORGE VI 1936-1952, and ELIZABETH II 1952. The obverses of the George V and George VI coins depict left-facing bare head portraits, while the Elizabeth II coins feature a right-facing laureate bust. Reverse designs include the seated figure of Britannia for earlier issues and the GOLDEN HIND sailing ship for coins dated 1937 onwards. Each coin aperture is accompanied by printed year and mintage data. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the folder.
Condition report:
The coins show signs of environmental exposure and circulation wear. The George V coins exhibit significant wear to high points, flattened details, and dark brown surface patination (Photos 1, 3). The George VI and early Elizabeth II coins show varied degrees of circulation wear and surface toning (Photos 2, 4). Several later Elizabeth II coins retain higher-grade details and varying degrees of original mint red-brown lustre (Photo 4). The red card folder shows general edge wear, minor creasing, and light scuffing to the exterior covers (Photo 5). No protective capsules or cases are provided.
