Lot 177: UK 1980 Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother 80th Birthday Crown
A 1980 commemorative crown, featuring a central profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother on the reverse. The portrait is encircled by a radiating pattern of twelve stylised lions and bows. The inscription around the perimeter is struck as QUEEN ELIZABETH THE QUEEN MOTHER AUGUST 4th 1980. The coin is presented in its original blue plastic case featuring silver-toned printed text. The case is inscribed HER MAJESTY at the top, QUEEN ELIZABETH THE QUEEN MOTHER in a circular arrangement, and 80TH BIRTHDAY AUG 4TH 1980 at the base. No hallmarks, fineness marks, or maker’s marks are visible on the coin or its packaging.
Condition report:
The coin shows no visible signs of handling or environmental exposure and appears to be in uncirculated condition. The reverse displays sharp definition to the central portrait and the surrounding motifs with no toning or contact marks observed (photo 1). The blue plastic presentation case shows light surface abrasions and minor scuffs to the exterior. The coin is supplied in its original blue case.
