Lot 118: Two UK London 2012 Sports Collection Fifty Pence Coins
This lot comprises two London 2012 Sports Collection commemorative fifty pence coins, each secured within an illustrated card presentation pack. The first coin features an aquatics theme, depicting a swimmer in motion with ripple lines and the official LONDON 2012 logo. The reverse is inscribed 50 PENCE. It is housed in a purple and teal card titled AQUATICS and LONDON 2012 SPORTS COLLECTION, with a barcode reading 5 026177 221142 on the upper flap. The second coin features a rowing theme, showing a stylised overhead view of a rowing crew. The design incorporates the words EXCELLENCE, FAIR PLAY, RESPECT, and FRIENDSHIP, alongside the official LONDON 2012 logo and the denomination 50 PENCE. This coin is presented in a card pack titled ROWING and LONDON 2012 SPORTS COLLECTION. Both coins display a brilliant uncirculated finish. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible.
Condition report:
The coins are in uncirculated condition within their protective plastic housings. The Aquatics presentation card shows heavy wear and creasing to the upper edge, including a small tear at the central hanging slot. The Rowing presentation card displays light shelf wear and minor bumping to the corners. Both items are supplied in their original illustrated card packaging.
