Lot 116: A Pair of UK 2012 London Olympics Sports Collection 50 Pence Coins
This lot comprises two UK heptagonal 50 pence coins from the LONDON 2012 SPORTS COLLECTION series. The first coin features a reverse design depicting two hands with paddles and a ball crossing a net, positioned below the LONDON 2012 PARALYMPIC GAMES logo and above the legend 50 PENCE. The second coin features a reverse design depicting a player striking a ball over a net, positioned below the LONDON 2012 logo with Olympic rings and above the legend 50 PENCE. Each coin is housed within its original colour-coded presentation card, printed with the respective sport names TABLE TENNIS and VOLLEYBALL, alongside the inscription LONDON 2012 SPORTS COLLECTION. The coins are constructed from metal with a brilliant uncirculated finish. No fineness marks or hallmarks are visible on the coins or packaging.
Condition report:
The coins and packaging show signs of handling. The reverse of the Table Tennis coin appears free of visible faults. The reverse of the Volleyball coin displays several fine contact marks and surface scratches to the fields around the central figure. Both presentation cards show light wear to the edges and corners, with a minor crease visible to the upper right corner of the Table Tennis card. The coins are securely held in their original card mounts.
