A 1924 painting, featuring a cubist-style still life with a central mandolin silhouette. The composition is formed from overlapping geometric planes in various shades of blue, teal, grey, and ochre, with a central off-white instrument form. The mandolin is depicted with a circular sound hole and horizontal strings, set against a background including red and green chevron patterns and blue squares containing white and teal star-like motifs. A black chair outline is visible to the left. The upper right corner bears a painted inscription reading PICASSO 24. The work is presented in a narrow white metal strip frame. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the reverse of the piece.
Condition report:
The painting shows signs of light surface wear and minor scuff marks across the composition (photo 1). The white metal frame displays faint surface scratches and light grime consistent with handling. The work is housed in a narrow metal frame.
