This lot comprises a complete set of 50 cigarette cards from the John Player and Sons Military Series, presented in two matching mahogany-toned frames. Each frame contains 25 cards mounted behind maroon matting with gold-gilt inner slips. The cards feature chromolithographic illustrations depicting various ranks and uniforms of the British Army, Royal Navy, and Royal Household. Legible printed inscriptions at the base of the cards include BUGLER, COLDSTREAM GUARDS; ROYAL HORSE ARTILLERY; COAST BRIGADE, ROYAL ARTILLERY; 5TH ROYAL IRISH LANCERS; BLACK WATCH; and SEAFORTH HIGHLANDERS. The illustrations represent military figures in full dress and service uniforms. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the frames.

Condition report:
The cards appear in good condition with vibrant colours and light age-toning. The frames exhibit minor surface scuffs and wear to the edges. A small white fragment is trapped behind the glazing in the upper frame (photo 1). The glazing remains intact.
