Lot 325: A Mid-20th Century Kodak Brownie 127 Camera and Carrying Case
A Mid-20th Century Kodak Brownie 127 camera, featuring a molded black body designed with horizontal ribbing. The snapshot camera is equipped with a fixed-focus lens and an integrated direct-vision optical viewfinder within the upper housing. The controls consist of two white plastic components: a shutter release button and a winding knob located on the top plate. The front of the camera is fitted with a metal faceplate printed in red with the text K O D A K, Brownie 127 in a cursive script, and C A M E R A. The camera is accompanied by a tan textured carrying case featuring a red fabric interior lining, a metal zipper closure, and an attached shoulder strap. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the carrying case.
Condition report:
The camera and carrying case show signs of environmental exposure and handling. The metal faceplate exhibits significant surface oxidation, pitting, and general wear to the red printed text (photo 2). The molded body shows minor surface scuffing but remains free of visible chips or cracks. The lens and viewfinder glass are intact. The carrying case shows external darkening, scuffing, and wear to the tan finish (photo 1), while the red interior remains intact (photo 3). The mechanical function of the shutter and winding mechanism has not been tested. A tan carrying case is supplied.
