Lot 217: A Collection of Seven Figural Novelty Lapel Pins
This lot comprises seven figural novelty lapel pins of cast metal construction. The collection includes two horse head pins in profile, two motor car pins modelled as Edwardian-style open tourers, one tortoise, and two pins depicting flowers. One motor car pin features a yellow-toned surface wash. The pins are designed as lapel or tie tacks with needle-point fasteners to the reverse. A raised mark reading HP is visible on the reverse of one floral pin. No other maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the items.
Weight: under 100g total.
Condition report:
The pins exhibit signs of age-related wear and environmental exposure. One motor car pin shows significant green verdigris oxidation to the surface (photo 2), while the yellow-toned motor car pin exhibits surface rubbing and loss to the finish (photo 2). General surface pitting, scratches, and dulling are present across the collection. A single butterfly clutch fastener is included (photo 4); the remaining six fasteners are absent.
