This lot comprises a nine-piece glazed earthenware tea set featuring a vibrant, hand-painted fruit motif and raised-line decoration. The set includes a bulbous teapot with a yellow pear design, a red and white striped base, and a lid with a pointed finial. Four teacups are included, each finished in a different base colour of orange, blue, yellow, and green, decorated with various fruit motifs including pears, apples, strawberries, and oranges. The interiors of the cups are white, and the handles feature coordinating striped patterns. Completing the set are four matching saucers with solid-coloured centres and striped rims that coordinate with the base colours of the cups. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
Condition report:
The tea set shows signs of handling and use. A significant chip is present on the rim of the blue and white striped saucer, exposing the white earthenware body (photo 3). The interior bases of the teacups show minor dark staining consistent with use (photo 1). The set also displays light surface dust and minor glaze imperfections.
