Coins, Gold & Silver Bullion Auction
Four silver threepence coins from the reign of George V, struck in .500 fine silver. The obverse of each coin features a left-facing profile portrait of King George V with the struck legend GEORGIVS V D. G. BRITT : OMN : REX F. D. IND : IMP :. The reverse design comprises a large central numeral 3 surmounted by a crown and enclosed within an oak wreath tied with a ribbon at the base. The dates visible on the reverse sides are 1920, 1921 (two examples), and 1926. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the coins.
Condition report:
The coins show signs of environmental exposure and significant circulated wear. The obverse faces exhibit dark toning, surface grime, and flattened details on the hair and beard of the portrait (photo 2). The reverse faces show varied levels of tarnish and wear to the high points of the crown, central numeral, and wreath foliage (photo 1). No protective capsules or original packaging are present.
