A 1902 British silver crown. The obverse depicts a bare-headed portrait of King Edward VII facing right, encircled by the legend EDWARDVS VII DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX FID: DEF: IND: IMP: transcribed in capitals. The engraver’s initials DES. are struck below the truncation of the neck. The reverse features a neoclassical design of Saint George on horseback slaying a dragon, with the date 1902 and the designer initials B.P. positioned in the exergue. The coin is finished with a milled edge. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
Condition report:
The coin shows signs of environmental exposure and handling. The obverse exhibits three prominent horizontal scratches across the King\'s head and numerous smaller contact marks in the fields (photo 3). The reverse displays significant dark toning and tarnish across the fields and around the devices (photo 1). Moderate circulation wear is visible on the high points of the portrait and the horse\'s musculature. No protective capsule or case is supplied.
