A 925 silver bar brooch, featuring a central circular openwork medallion mounted to a slender horizontal bar. The medallion contains a heraldic lion rampant motif executed in translucent red enamel over a textured, grid-patterned ground. The 925 silver surfaces show remnants of a yellow-toned finish, which has worn in places to reveal the metal beneath. The reverse is fitted with a traditional pin mechanism featuring a simple hinge and a C-clasp fastener. Small punches are visible on the bar to the left of the central motif, however, the characters are not legible. No other maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
Condition report:
The brooch shows signs of surface oxidisation and tarnish across the metal surfaces. The red enamel appears to be well-preserved with no visible losses or major cracks (photo 1). The pin mechanism is functional, though the pin shows a slight lateral bend (photo 1). The item is supplied without original packaging.
