A sterling silver bar brooch featuring a central oval cabochon black stone, likely onyx. The brooch is designed with a central oval setting featuring a rope-twist border, flanked by split shoulders that taper into a straight bar. Each side of the bar is decorated with two vertical incised lines. A straight pin is fitted to the reverse with a rotating safety clasp. The reverse of the bar is impressed with a mark reading STERLING.
Length: Approximately 60mm.
Condition report:
The brooch is in good vintage condition. Surface wear and fine scratches are visible on the silver consistent with age (photo 1). Tarnish is present throughout the metal, particularly in the recessed areas of the rope-twist border and split shoulders (photo 1, 2). The central gemstone appears secure in its setting with no visible chips or cracks (photo 1). The safety clasp is functional.
