Start price: £5

Estimated price: £15 - £30

Buyer's Premium:

A pair of English silver-plated table lighters. These items are designed in an oval pedestal form, a style commonly associated with the Queen Anne pattern, featuring vertical gadrooning on the lower half of the body and a decorative beaded border around the shoulder. Each lighter is fitted with a chrome-finished push-button ignition mechanism at the top. The base of the lighter features a central black circular filler screw with embossed lettering. The top arc of the screw reads MADE IN ENGLAND, the central raised bar reads RONSON followed by a circled R, and the bottom arc reads REGD. TRADE MARK. To the right of the filler screw, the words RONSON (R) and REG. TRADE MARK are stamped into the metal. To the left side, the base is stamped with MADE IN ENGLAND, PATENTED, and RD. DES. The underside is finished with a green felt underlining around the perimeter.

Condition report:

Both lighters show visible tarnishing and surface scratching consistent with age and use (photo 1). There is minor pitting to the silver plating, most notably within the gadrooned sections and around the pedestal bases (photo 1). One lighter exhibits a small area of more pronounced wear or localised corrosion on the upper beaded rim (photo 1). The green felt underlining on the base shows signs of thinning and wear, with some fraying at the edges (photo 3). The mechanical striker mechanisms are present but have not been tested for functionality.
