A 2011 UK 50 pence coin issued as part of the London 2012 Olympic Games commemorative series. The reverse, designed by Jonathan Olliffe, features a rhythmic gymnast with a ribbon and includes the London 2012 logo at the top with the denomination 50 PENCE at the base. The obverse displays the fourth definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley, with the designer’s initials IRB located below the neck. The heptagonal coin is struck in a white metal with a proof finish, characterized by mirrored fields and frosted relief. The item is housed in a clear protective plastic capsule with a black foam insert.
Condition report:
The coin retains a high-lustre finish consistent with a proof strike. There is significant golden-yellow peripheral toning present on the obverse. The reverse fields exhibit fine surface hairlines visible under direct light. The coin remains in a high state of preservation with no visible edge knocks or significant contact marks.
