Two decorative metal containers including a Russian Revival style lidded box and an oval trinket box. The cabin-form box is cast as an izba with textured log-style walls, window frames, and a gabled roof featuring a central chimney that serves as a secondary opening. The exterior retains remnants of a silvered finish over a base metal with a dark patina, and the interior is lined with wood. The second container is an oval trinket box featuring all-over repoussé scroll and foliate patterns, with a prominent applied gilt-metal bow to the centre of the lid and a red crushed velvet lining. No maker’s marks, signatures, or hallmarks are visible on either item.
Condition report:
The cabin box lid is currently detached from the base (photo 2). There is significant wear and loss to the silvered finish across the exterior, with visible verdigris oxidation on the roof (photo 1). The oval box displays moderate tarnishing and surface darkening to the exterior (photo 3). The red velvet interior shows light wear and compression from use (photo 2).
