A collection of Russian Provisional Government State Credit Notes issued in 1917, featuring denominations of 1000 Rubles and 250 Rubles. The 1000 Ruble notes, commonly known as Duma Rubles (Pick P-37), display a central vignette of the Tauride Palace in Petrograd, identified by the inscription ГОСУДАРСТВЕННАЯ ДУМА, within ornate guilloché borders and multi-coloured underprinting in blue, pink, and green. The 250 Ruble notes (Pick P-36) feature the Bilibin-style double-headed eagle without imperial regalia, superimposed over a large swastika sun symbol, dated 1917. Special serial numbers present include the low-range number AA-002 and AB-122. All notes carry the facsimile signature of Governor Shipov and various cashiers.
Condition report:
The notes are in raw, circulated condition, ranging from Good to Fine. All examples exhibit multiple heavy vertical and horizontal folds, softened corners, and minor edge wear. Several notes show significant condition issues, including prominent circular brown moisture stains and foxing that affect both the face and margins.
