A trio of oval-shaped commemorative proof coins issued by the Bank of Zambia to celebrate the centenary of HM Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother (1900-2000). Each coin features a distinct photographic-style portrait on the obverse: a youthful portrait titled The Early Years, a seated portrait titled Coronation 1937, and a portrait in later life titled An Enduring Presence. The peripheral inscriptions read HM QUEEN ELIZABETH THE QUEEN MOTHER 1900-2000 and A COMMONWEALTH NATION PAYS TRIBUTE. The coins are presented in their original clear plastic capsules within a red velvet-lined Bank of Zambia presentation case. An accompanying specification sheet indicates three possible compositions for the issue: .999 gold, .925 sterling silver, or cupronickel; these examples are of a silver-coloured metal.
Size: 48mm x 30mm
Weight: 20 grams each (as per specification sheet).
Condition report:
All coins are in proof condition, featuring mirrored fields and frosted devices with no visible wear, toning, or handling marks on the surfaces. The clear plastic capsules are intact and well-preserved. The red presentation box remains in excellent condition with a clean interior and sharp corners.
