A 2017 South African fine silver Krugerrand coin, struck by the South African Mint. The obverse features the profile portrait of Paul Kruger, the former President of the South African Republic, with the legends SUID-AFRIKA and SOUTH AFRICA inscribed along the upper perimeter. The reverse depicts a springbok antelope in mid-stride, flanked by the split date 20 17. The inscriptions KRUGERRAND and FYNSILVER 1 OZ FINE SILVER R1 appear above and below the motif respectively. A small circular privy mark containing the number 50 is located above the springbok, signifying the 50th anniversary of the Krugerrand series. This 2017 issue is significant as the first year that the Krugerrand was produced as a silver bullion coin.

Condition report:
The coin shows significant surface wear and signs of handling, with numerous heavy scratches and hairlines across the central raised motifs on both the obverse and reverse. There is visible dark toning and tarnish concentrated along the denticulated rims and within the recessed areas of the design and lettering. The reeded edge remains generally intact.
