The obverse features the Veiled Head portrait of Queen Victoria by Thomas Brock with the inscription VICTORIA DEI GRA BRITT REGINA FID DEF IND IMP. The reverse features three crowned shields in a trefoil arrangement bearing the coats of arms of England, Scotland, and Ireland, surrounded by the Garter motto HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE. The denomination ONE SHILLING and date 1897 are present. The coin has a reeded edge and is struck in .925 sterling silver.

Condition report:
About fine. The coin exhibits moderate to heavy wear across both surfaces. Significant smoothing is evident on the obverse portrait. The surfaces show heavy dark toning, environmental spotting, and areas of oxidation.
