A United Kingdom sterling silver half crown dated 1918, catalogued as KM# 818.1. The obverse features the left-facing bare head portrait of King George V with the circumscription GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX. The reverse displays a crowned spade-shaped shield of arms within a Garter bearing the motto HONI SOIT QVI MAL Y PENSE, surrounded by the legend FID: DEF: IND: IMP: and the denomination HALF CROWN 1918. Struck in .925 fineness silver at the Royal Mint during the First World War period.
Condition report:
The coin is in circulated condition with moderate wear to the high points of the portrait and the heraldic shield. Significant dark spotting and surface residue are present across the obverse fields and portrait. General toning and surface contact marks are visible on both sides. The milled edge remains intact with no significant knocks.
