Lot 66: A Collection of Six Wedgwood Blue Jasperware Items

A collection of six Wedgwood blue Jasperware items featuring white bas-relief sprigged decoration. Jasperware is an unvitrified stoneware developed by Josiah Wedgwood in the late 18th century. This group is finished in a light blue shade with classical and commemorative motifs.

The collection includes a 1981 Christmas plate featuring a central relief of Marble Arch, London, inscribed CHRISTMAS at the top and 1981 at the bottom with a holly leaf and berry border. There is a small flared-neck vase decorated with classical mythological scenes and an oak leaf border to the neck. A square dish with curved corners displays a central classical female figure within a floral and foliate border. A small circular pin dish features a classical scene with figures and a child, enclosed by a floral border. The collection further includes a small lidded octagonal trinket box with a classical relief on the lid and a large cylindrical jar decorated with lion head masks and floral festoons above classical figures, featuring a beaded relief border at the upper rim.

The bases of the items bear impressed marks including WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND. Some pieces also feature individual impressed characters such as the number 7.
