A vintage Lilliput Junior toy typewriter, manufactured by Byron. The manual typewriter features a pressed metal body finished in a yellow-gold colour paint. The keyboard consists of three rows of black plastic keys in a standard QWERTY layout, featuring various symbols and fractions, alongside side keys marked FIG SHIFT and CAP SHIFT. The front nameplate displays the Lilliput brand name in a red stylised script font. The movable carriage includes a white ruler strip graduated from 0 to 60 in increments of 10. A pair of small red and blue arrows are located on the upper right side of the metal casing. The typewriter is housed within a hard-sided carrying case featuring a brown and tan plaid patterned exterior, a black plastic handle, and metal latch and hinges.
Condition report:
The typewriter body exhibits light surface dust and minor paint wear to the edges consistent with age and use. All plastic keys are present with sharp, legible characters. The internal typebars and carriage mechanism appear intact, although the functionality has not been tested. The carrying case shows significant signs of wear, including scuffing and peeling to the plaid covering at the corners and edges. The metal latch, hinges, and handle mounts show visible surface oxidation and rust. The plastic handle remains intact.
