An Art Deco partial dinner service by Alfred Meakin, dating to circa 1936. This glazed earthenware set features a cream-coloured ground decorated with a hand-painted modernist geometric motif consisting of a green triangle flanked by black diagonal rays. The pieces are executed in the Princess shape, characterised by distinctive stepped handles and finials typical of the period, and are finished with silver-coloured lustre trim to the rims and handles. The collection includes two circular lidded vegetable tureens, a sauce boat with a prominent angular handle, and an assortment of dinner, salad, and side plates. The base of the tureen bears the stamped British Registered Design number 811881, which identifies the shape, as well as the hand-painted pattern number 2404 and other decorator marks.

Condition report:
The service shows signs of age and use consistent with earthenware of this period. There is visible fine crazing to the glaze across several items, most notably on the sauce boat which also exhibits some interior staining. The silver-toned lustre decoration shows minor rubbing and wear to the rims and handles. No major chips or cracks are evident.
