A set of four fine bone china circular decorative plates produced by Wedgwood for the Game Birds of Britain Collection, commissioned by Compton and Woodhouse. Each plate is decorated with a naturalistic polychrome transfer-print depicting British game birds in their natural habitats. The collection includes scenes of Red Grouse in a highland moorland setting, Pheasants in a woodland environment, Partridges in a frosty field, and Woodcocks camouflaged amongst woodland floor debris. Every plate is finished with a gilded rim. The reverse of each piece bears a black transfer backstamp with the Wedgwood classical vase logo, Bone China, and MADE IN ENGLAND. The marks also include the specific title for the scene, such as Woodland Retreat, the collection name, a 1995 copyright for Compton and Woodhouse, and a stylised CW monogram. A safety warning stating that the vessels are for decorative purposes only and not for food use is printed around the lower rim.

Condition report:
The plates are in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks, repairs, or crazing. The gilded rims remain intact and well-preserved. One plate is fitted with a wire hanging attachment on the reverse.
