Mid-century modern textured colour print on board depicting members of the Household Cavalry on horseback in front of the Victoria Memorial and Buckingham Palace, London. The composition is rendered in a stylised manner characteristic of the 1960s, featuring horizontal striations that suggest movement and a layered, cinematic perspective. The piece is housed in its original wide, cream-coloured wooden frame with a narrow dark inner slip. A printed retailer and framing label on the reverse from Messrs Ward Bros., Ltd., Waterdale, Doncaster, is inscribed: MESSRS WARD BROS., LTD. WATERDALE, DONCASTER, YORKS., HOUSEHOLD CAVALRY BY MASON., 21 1/2 X 47 1/2, Order No. 13842, and 311/69. The label also features a square logo containing the stylised interlaced letters J and R, for the publisher John Rose.
