A pair of solid oak occasional tables in the Tudor Revival style, dating from the mid-20th century. Each table is constructed with a drop-leaf top featuring rounded, thumb-moulded edges, forming an oval surface when both leaves are extended. The tables are supported by four baluster-turned legs on block feet, joined by a rectangular stretcher base. The side stretchers are decorated with a characteristic repeating pattern of recessed carved oval motifs. The understructure reveals mid-20th-century assembly methods, including Phillips-head screws for the hinges and wing-nut bolt assemblies for the frame.
Condition report:
Both tables exhibit signs of age and regular use. The tops show numerous surface scratches, scuffs, and small indentations, with a more significant deep scratch visible on one leaf. The dark stained finish displays some uneven wear and light water marks. The legs and stretchers show typical scuffing and minor finish loss, especially around the feet. The underside cross-rails have minor splitting near the wing-nut bolts. The metal hinges show signs of oxidation and paint loss.
