A commemorative Corgi Originals die-cast model of the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car, produced in 1992 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original 1967 release. This replica was manufactured using the original vintage moulds. The vehicle features a die-cast metal body with a silvered bonnet, black and gold detailing, and a wood-effect plastic rear tub. The model is populated by four hand-painted figures representing Caractacus Potts, Truly Scrumptious, Jeremy, and Jemima. Functional elements include automatic flip-out side wings with red and yellow striped detailing. The car is fitted with gold-tone radiator and lamps featuring inset jewelled headlights.
The lot is presented on a polished wooden plinth with a fixed brass-tone commemorative plaque inscribed Chitty Chitty Bang Bang 25th ANNIVERSARY 1967 – 1992. Documentation includes a numbered Certificate of Authenticity (C 0049) signed by Chris Guest, Managing Director of Corgi Sales Ltd, and an original Corgi Originals booklet. The item is accompanied by its blue textured presentation box with a Corgi Originals seal and the pictorial outer cardboard sleeve. A small plastic bag containing the original clip-on front and rear stabilisers is also present.
Condition report:
The model appears in excellent, near-mint condition with bright plating and clean paintwork. The figures are intact and the wing mechanism is fully functional. The clip-on stabilisers remain sealed in their original plastic bag. The internal blue presentation box is well-preserved. The outer pictorial cardboard box shows minor signs of shelf wear and light creasing to the corners consistent with age.
